Miscellaneous Jacksons

These Jacksons are men and women that the author has come across in his research.  He has not been able to associate them with any particular line of Jacksons and in particular, his own Jackson family.  The accuracy of the information below should be verified by further research since the author discounted these Jacksons as not being in his line and he did no further research.

Absalom Jackson, deceased about 1848 in Wilkes County, GA. This man appeared to own quite a bit of land in Georgia.  A William E. Jackson filed for letters of administration.  There was an Absalom Jackson that lived very close to the author's Combs ancestors in Wilkes County.  In a bible record of an Ann Jackson, there is a William E. Jackson that married an Elizabeth Miller in Camden County, GA in May 1836.  This bible record indicates that this William was the son of an Absalom Jackson who married Pharabea Webster and he was the son of Walter Jackson.  Absalom may have been in Washington, DC before moving to Georgia; However, the author found a document at the GA Archives that claims that Walter moved to Wrightsboro, GA in 1768 but later died in Wilkes County in 1816.  This same document claims that Absalom was a Rev. War soldier for Georgia and he received bounty land for his service in Wilkes County, GA.

Daniel Jackson, deceased about 1826 in Oglethorpe County, GA.  He owned land and slaves at the time of his death.  Note that The estate records for this Daniel can be found at the GA Archives. His wife was Mary and his children were Sarah, Polley, Patience Varner (wife of George?), Owen G. and William A.

Daniel Jackson, deceased about 1814 in Clarke County, GA.  This Daniel was a soldier in the Am. Rev from South Carolina under Col. John Brandon.  His wife was Nancy High whom he married in 1770.

Daniel Jackson, a Daniel Jackson married a Martha Combs.

Edward Jackson, born 1819 and died 1893, buried Salem Baptist Church, Oglethorpe County, GA.  Married Louise C. Moore.  Given the location of where he lived in Oglethorpe County, Edward is most likely descended from Edward Jackson and his 2nd wife Abigail James but there is no proof of this. Some possibilities would be Edward & Abigail's sons Ephraim, Woody, Ambrose or Reuben or some other son not yet discovered.  Edward and Louise had known children Willis Benjamin Jackson, William Sanders Jackson and Enoch Callaway Jackson.  All three sons served for the Confederacy.  Interestingly, Enoch served with the GA 38th and he is buried in the Westview Cemetery where the author's Jackson great-grandfather William Barnett Jackson is buried.  William Barnett Jackson is also a descendant of Edward Jackson and his 1st wife Lucy Parrish.  William Barnett Jackson's brother (John, died after Gettysburg) was in the GA 38th.

----------------

[1] Was this John B. Jackson the son of Robert Jackson, grandson of Daniel Jackson, Sr. the Rev. War soldier?  If so, it was before his marriage to Mary Colquitt so Mary A. Jackson may have deceased before 1836. Among the numerous Mary Jacksons, the author found a Mary Ann Jackson who was the daughter of Joshua Jackson and Eleanor Wise.  Joshua was the brother of Robert Jackson so if this Mary Ann Jackson did marry John B Jackson the son of Robert Jackson, they would have been 1st cousins marrying.
