Absalom Davis is my maternal 6th great grandfather. He was probably born in Virginia and spent most of his life there before moving to Granville County, NC shortly before his father's death in 1761-2. He later moved with his family to Abbeville District, South Carolina before the Revolutionary War where they lived near the Savannah River. When the Revolutionary War broke out, most of his sons participated as Patriots for both South Carolina and Georgia. His daughter Nancy/Ann married the Patriot officer John Cunningham in 1781.
