The author's Colley ancestors are another Virginia family that had a Revolutionary War soldier (John W. Colley [1]) that was an early settler of Wilkes County Georgia.
In 2008, Marshall L. Styles wrote two lengthy books (522 & 1345 pages respectively) that make up an excellent history of John Colley the soldier and his Colley family from 1730 to 2008. Mr. Styles has made these available through the FamilySearch website and the links to view and download these books are shown below. These two books provide the researcher with a huge resource of information about our Colley ancestors and cousins:
- John W. Colley of Wilkes County, Georgia: A Soldier in the Revolution from Mecklenburg County, Virginia
- Descendants of Edward Colley and Mary Strong (Colley) of Mecklenburg County, Virginia : from 1730-2008
Since Mr. Styles and numerous other researchers have given us invaluable research tools, the author will only "hit the high spots" or add information that he found in his research. Please follow the links below for more on the author's COLLEY ancestors.
