The Hollis clan lived along the Wateree River which is now mostly Lake Wateree. I found several land documents that indicate many lived on what was called Dutchman's Creek and that area is now close to the Lake Wateree marina. Most likely they lived in the area south of present day Great Falls and north of Winnsboro along the many tributaries of the Wateree. Interstate 77 probably bisects some of the land that they owned. Note that the Wateree River is the same river as the Catawba that flows from Western NC near Morganton through Charlotte and into South Carolina where it becomes the Wateree - Great Falls is the point where the Catawba becomes the Wateree. Their lands may have stretched to both sides of the Wateree River which included both Fairfield and Kershaw Districts.
As noted on a previous page, the children of John Hollis and Esther that moved to South Carolina are as follows:

I have built a family tree largely based on the research of others [1] and while I cannot vouch for its accuracy, it does seem to be mostly correct. The James+Sarah Hall part of the tree has been fairly well researched by known descendants and most of the info that I have seen has been fairly conclusive especially when looking at the yDNA results of known descendants. The Nottley and Edward lines also remain only partly unresearched due to a lack of records. Almost all Hollis lines from this tree have descendants that either moved to Georgia or passed through Georgia on their way to Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana in the early to mid 1800s.
Here is a link to a simple family tree showing the Fairfield District Hollises. Note that this tree is a work in progress and it is a very simple tree and it is incomplete.
For the purposes of my own ancestry tracing, I will be focusing on the Moses+Rosannah part of the tree.
Also, as a footnote, there was another Hollis man, also a Revolutionary War veteran, that settled in the adjacent UNION DISTRICT of South Carolina. This man was James Hollis and there are numerous records for him and his descendants some of whom also wound up in Georgia. At this point in our research, this man does not appear to be closely related to the Fairfield Hollises - his ancestry or whereabouts before arriving in South Carolina are unknown. One interesting fact about this man however is that one of his descendants wound up living in Paulding County Georgia and he resided very close to my own Hollis ancestors. This man was John Washington Hollis and I have not found a link or any relationship that existed with him and my Hollis ancestors and no descendants of John Washington Hollis appear to have done any yDNA testing.
